چکیده

This paper evaluates an existing algorithm for biometric identification. In identification based on biometric images, the number of image comparisons is an important factor to estimate the total processing time in addition to the processing time of a single image comparison. Maeda et al. proposed an identification algorithm which reduces the number of image comparisons. This paper evaluates the algorithm in terms of the processing time and the accuracy with the features extracted by SIFT from palmprint images. The evaluation in this paper proves that the algorithm is applicable to the SIFTbased palmprint features.

Robust Iris Recognition in Unconstrained Environments

A biometric system provides automatic identification of an individual based on a unique feature or characteristic possessed by him/her. Iris recognition (IR) is known to be the most reliable and accurate biometric identification system. The iris recognition system (IRS) consists of an automatic segmentation mechanism which is based on the Hough transform (HT). This paper presents a robust IRS i...

Faster person identification using compressed ECG in time critical wireless telecardiology applications

Adoption of compression technology is often required for wireless cardiovascular monitoring, due to the enormous size of electrocardiogram (ECG) signal and limited bandwidth of Internet. However, compressed ECG must be decompressed before performing human identification using present research on ECG based biometric techniques. This additional step of decompression creates a significant processi...
